Bjoeks Bouldering Experience 12: Photoshoot

Let me start by saying the weather during the photo shoot was far worse than I initially expected. I was very concerned about the quality of the light one could get under such a conditions. However, once again Elincrhom Ranger with Quadra RX saved the day. Most of the photographs were taken with one Quadra RX positioned 5-6m from the subject with the light compensation equal to +f6.0 (full power).

Now few words about the general aesthetics of the climbing projects for the contestants during BBX12. The organizers did very nice job, and prepared a great variety of outdoor bouldering problems, usually 3-5 meters high (10-16 ft.)! Most of them were overhanging with some extra features. From the technical point of view in order to get some nice action shots I needed to climb up on the back sides of these artificial walls!

Preparing for BBX12

On Saturday, 2nd of July I will be covering the Bjoeks Bouldering Experience 12. It is one of the oldest bouldering events in the northern part of the Netherlands, hosted by Bjoeks Climbing Center, Groningen. Rather than spending unnecessarily bytes of your bandwidth let me quote the colleagues from www.rotsblok.com about the event:

Sure, we could post a really long story about the bbx being the oldest ‘n coolest boulder comp in de dutch lowlands and all. That it’s a great festival from amateur to pro level and even for the bbq minded. But it’s just to hot to even do nothin’. So we take the easy way, you now, the one your parents warned you about.

I did have the pleasure to photograph during the last year event, the BBX11. It was really fun! People were motivated, music nice, and the bouldering problems really cool! You can see some of the photographs taken during the last BBX in my bouldering portfolio. Moreover, just to give you a flavor of fun and variety of bouldering problems I attached few photos from BBX11 below!

See you at BBX12!
